"End of a Decade"

2009
was marked by many amazing events. It’s true what they say, “time
flies as you get older”. Feels like yesterday that we were
documenting 2008.
The
year began by Haril travelling to India for work and trying to
get his office,
CBT Architects, to
establish ties overseas. Then the Pandya Clan were off to Tuluum
in February for a weeks respite and since the Patriots were not
in the Superbowl (darn ACL!), we were more than psyched to watch
the BIG GAME on a 40 foot screen on the beach! Soon to follow
was Nirvan's 3rd birthday.
May
was awesome, spent time in San Francisco to accept my
American Institute of America's Young
Architect Award. I got to see some San Fran, my
sweet lil' cousin and met up with some old friends and RPI
professors - total blast from the past!! The rest of May was
chill, we went to NJ for Memorial Day and got to hang out with
Vik, Iti and Ishaan.
But
life seemed to come to a halt in June, we lost a great musical
inspiration and someone both Seema and I grew up with, Michael
Jackson. Not to 'dis' Farrah Fawcet, after all, she was an
'inspiration' to me ;) But Michael's death sent ripples to many
of my musical friends. So many fond memories and so many stages
of life were defined by his musical genius. Go see his movie, "This
is it".
After Orissa's play and graduation from Pre-K in June, we
participated in the 7 Mile Walk for Children's Hospital, where
Seema helped raise over $5000! July ended big with our first Trip to
Italy!! Seema had to go for work and thought she'd bring me
along. Of course she travelled Business Class and I went Coach,
but hey, no matter, we went to ITALY!! In August, my buddy Jason
got married and our band (Red
Square) jammed it out for his reception.
Total blast! My mom visited with us from July to October this
year and it was all about getting healthy and spending time
together with her. Also, it was her 60th Birthday in September !
Happy Big one Mom!
Early Fall was marked by a 5K Run for the
Susan G. Komen Foundation
and rolled right into apple picking and Orissa starting
Kindergarten!!
(click here for the video) My, how time flies... The rounded out by the band
playing Halloween, Seema and Orissa going to India over
Thanksgiving, leaving me and Nirvan behind for some male-QT,
going to see
Star Wars in Concert
(awesome), and Haril's 20th High School Reunion, where yes, the
old high school band played and rocked it.
And
now with the Holidays approaching and the launch of a new
decade, there is much to be thankful for - mostly, family. Until
the next update, be safe, be happy and see you soon.
